For over 100 years, the Boy Scouts have been leading youth through a variety of outdoor adventures. Today, the properties and programming offered by the Aloha Council are not only educational and fun but open to ALL scouts! The core values of all our outdoor programming is still the same: develop leadership skills, get kids outdoors and have some fun.
Trained leaders provide a quality, fun-filled program for their units. When leaders understand Scouting, they are more effective in their roles. A leader in Scouting is considered fully trained and entitled to wear the Trained leader emblem when he or she has completed the training courses for their position. Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right.
The purpose of the Guide to Safe Scouting is to prepare members of the Boy Scouts of America to conduct Scouting activities in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guidelines have been established because of the real need to protect members from known hazards that have been identified through 100 years of experience. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed as stumbling blocks; rather, policies and guidelines are best described as stepping-stones toward safe and enjoyable adventures.
