Unit Elections Besides being the sole means of inducting new members into our Order, unit elections provide the opportunity for Scout, and Varsity Scout units to recognize special members of their unit as honor campers. They provide the opportunity for us as Arrowmen to present and explain the Order of the Arrow to Scouts and Scouters. It is a rare opportunity to give unit members an inside look at the OA as well as dispel myths that spring up from time to time. It is important, too, to discuss our purpose as a service organization to uphold Scouting's principals. Unit elections are conducted in the Aloha Council once each year between January 1 and December 31. No elections will be held at summer camps. In late December, the Lodge Unit Elections Chairman will send a letter to all unit leaders offering the opportunity to conduct OA elections. As requests for elections come in the lodge elections chairman will forward the requests to the chapter for action. It will be up to the chapter to confirm the date with the unit leader and have an election team on hand to conduct the election. If your unit has not yet scheduled a unit
election for the 2004 calendar year, please call the OA Lodge
Adviser at 595-6366 to begin the process. |
